Julia Child...not so much

I woke up at 7:45 eager to make the quiche and scones this morning - only to discover that I was missing two ingredients.  I decided I'd run to the store to get them - but then the thought process moved to 'if I'm gonna go out, I might as well run all my errands at once and get them over with.'  So I went to Target and bought not a single thing to get excited over (how does $50 worth of stuff fit into one bag?!), Herberger's (assorted birthday gifts), Hallmark (cards for everything from now until August and birthday gifts), grocery store, dry cleaners, and the gas station for my Saturday paper.  Well, by the time I got home, it was 11 AM.  Looks like quiche and scones will have to be brunch.  Not quite.
I made the scones first, then moved on to the quiche.  It was a process, and took far longer than I thought it would.  I enjoyed it all, because, for me, the fun is in the cooking, but it took a very long time.  By the time they were both done and edible, it was 1 PM.  So now I'm having quiche and scones for a late lunch.
The scones were made with a cinnamon struessel muffin mix, and they were good, but disappointing in that they weren't markedly better than the muffins you make from the same mix.  So why go to the extra effort of scones?
The quiche was not as good as Lauren's - didn't have as much flavor and was soggy.  I hate soggy eggs, it makes me think they're not cooked.
Neither of the dishes turned out bad, but on a scale of 10, hoping that they'd at least be a 9, they were a 7.5 or 8.  Good breakfast/brunch/late lunch, but nothing to write home about.  It's probably a good thing none of you came over, because I would have been disappointed.
So Julia Child has two things over me: #1) She actually worked as a spy, and I got rejected by the CIA, and #2) Her dishes were always a 10, I'm sure.
