At Long Last

Chances are, if you're reading this, you know me, and if you know me, chances are you've heard me talk about a Kitchen Aid mixer. I've joked with my family for years that I don't care what else I get for wedding gifts, but the one thing I really want is the mixer. I'm not really sure why, but I always envisioned that I would register for and receive the mixer as a wedding gift, and so have just been waiting for that day to come. I never considered purchasing it for myself - I think because it seemed extravagent to me.
But it's not extravagent when you find the one you've been pining after for years for 60% off on Black Friday, right? :-) My friend, Janet, told me she found one on sale at WalMart, which caused me to start looking at other stores, and I found the exact one I wanted for an incredible price. I didn't trust the small Herberger's in Fergus Falls to have the one I wanted in the store, so I ordered it online, but now that means I have to wait for 7-10 business days for it to come. I'm taking a community ed bread-making class next week, so it looks like I will get the mixer at the same time I learn how to make bread. :-)
Come on over and enjoy some homemade bread (but not for another 7-10 business days!)

I logged in today just so I could comment on this post! :)

It's so funny to me, because I felt the exact same way about a bread machine. I had always wanted one, longed for it, wanted that lovely smell of fresh bread in the oven. But, I always figured it would be the big thing I registered for when I got married someday.

Well, it was maybe 10 years ago now that I realized that was dumb! I said to friends "I don't need to wait for a husband to have a bread maker!" So, I went out and bought one I had been looking at for a while and LOVED every piece of bread I got from that machine! :) (since my hips didn't love it as much, it's been a while since I've made bread, but this makes me want to dig it out again!)

And, I TOTALLY know what you mean about a Kitchenaid mixer, which was my birthday and wedding present from Brent -such a wonderful addition to my kitchen! I love it! Can't wait to hear you talk about how you're using yours!
