Pigskin & World Missions

What do these two things have in common, you ask? Those two activities sum up my weekend. I was exhausted on Friday so after watching (a new favorite show) Real Simple Real Life and What Not to Wear, I went to bed a little after 9. And you can roll your eyes and snicker all you want. I'm not ashamed. It felt amazing. I then woke up at 8 on Saturday, and did some house chores. It was Saturday morning, so, of course, I watched College GameDay and then I went for a run (training for the 5K). I flipped between a couple Big Ten football games, and then went to play flag football Saturday afternoon. It was one of the most fun things I've done in a very long time. We all played well and had a ton of fun. I had a TD reception or two and a couple other receptions. I played QB for one possession, and had a beautiful pass to Josh Christenson, but he dropped it. Now I know how the pros feel - okay, maybe not exactly how they feel, but close enough.
This weekend was missions weekend at church, and being on the mission committee meant I had a number of events to attend. The first one was Saturday evening, so I went home after the football game, baked some brownies for the event, and got ready. One of the high schools in town had a football game, so after my missions shin-dig, I watched the game.
I woke up Sunday morning to snow and temps in the 20's (ick!) and so began missions Sunday. The morning was excellent, and everything went just like it should, which was a relief after working so hard on all the details. I got home at 2:30, and watched a little football as I fell asleep on my couch. I woke up at 5 and was back at church for a missions dinner a half an hour later. I got home at 9, and completely forgot that Brothers & Sisters (my other new favorite show) was on, so I watched football, and then went to bed, completely exhausted and very sore, but grateful for a such an awesome weekend.
See, pigskin and world missions.

Hey Sissy....sounds like you're idle as usual. *LOL* Since you're running in that 5k thingy does that mean you're going "home" to Iowa for Thanksgiving? I am...well I'm going home on Nov. 12th and staying until Dec. 9th so will be there for Thanksgiving. Where's the turkey trot? Do they let walkers participate or is it runners only?
